There are really many kinds of squid. At present, amang approximately 32 Genera, there are about 440 species in the world, Watasenia Scintillans (Firefly Squid), belong to the species Enoploteuthidae, under the Genera Teuthoida, and live in waters all round Japan.

When Firefly Squid become adults, they are at most 7 centimetres in mantle length. They emit a bluish white light that is something quite mesmerising. There is still much about Firefly Squid that is shrouded in mystery and has become a focus of intense study.
